Restrictions on γπ, γp, νp, and ν¯p scattering from conformal invariance

Abstract

Conformal invariance gives a prediction of the power law (st scaling) for quasielastic scattering of elementary particles at large angles. In this note we show that for the corresponding scattering of mass-0 and massive particles [(γ, ν, ν¯) and (π,p)] the inelastic channels are extremely restricted as there is at most one higher-twist contribution. This represents a decisive test for conformal symmetry.
