Abstract

Conformal invariance gives a prediction of the power law ( $\frac{s}{t}$ scaling) for quasielastic scattering of elementary particles at large angles. In this note we show that for the corresponding scattering of mass-0 and massive particles [( $γ$ , $ν$ , $\bar{ν}$ ) and ( $π$ , $p$ )] the inelastic channels are extremely restricted as there is at most one higher-twist contribution. This represents a decisive test for conformal symmetry.
