Photon-proton reactions

Abstract
We present a model based on quantum chromodynamics for calculating the photoproduction of particles containing heavy quarks. The production of heavy quarks is due to photon-gluon interaction. Soft-gluon emission is assumed to create a random-phase situation. The implications for vector dominance are discussed. Light-flavor production unlike heavy-flavor production is vector-meson dominated.
