Abstract

We investigate the decay modes of $D \to \bar{K} π$ and $D \to \bar{K} π π$ on the basis of the conventional quark-diagram approach. The matrix element of $〈 P or V | ({\bar{q}}_{1} q_{2}) | P 〉$ type will be estimated by the pole approximation. The relevant coupling constants are given by an effective Lagrangian with chiral SU(4) × SU(4) symmetry. We vary the relative strength of $(20 - plet part) / (84 - plet part)$ in the effective weak Hamiltonian and predict the decay rates of $D \to \bar{K} π$ and $D \to \bar{K} π π$ relative to $Γ (D^{0} \to K^{-} π^{+})$ .
