Abstract
The paradox of Van Royen and Weisskopf for weak decays of pseudoscalar mesons and electromagnetic decays of vector mesons is reconsidered in the context of a quark model of light, relativistic quarks. Specific calculations performed are in the framework of the MIT bag model. The pattern of symmetry breaking for relativistic, confined quarks is found to be in rough qualitative agreement with data.
