Pomeranchuk-Like Theorem that Can Be Proved

Abstract

Assuming that the total cross sections tend to finite nonvanishing limits as s, it is shown in axiomatic field theory that the scattering amplitudes f1(s, t) and f2(s, t) for processes A+BA+B and A¯+BA¯+B must satisfy either or both of the relations σ1(s)σ2(s)1 and [dσ1(s, t(s))dt][dσ2(s, t(s))dt]1 as s, where σi, and dσidt are the total and elastic differential cross sections and t(s)=C(lns)2. Since σi and dσidt are both measurable, this result enables us to subject axiomatic field theory to an experimental test.
