Interpretation of Small-Angle πp Elastic Scattering from 1.71 to 3.01 GeV/c

Abstract

Elastic scattering at small angles in the reaction πpπp has been investigated for Regge recurrences in the region 1.71-3.01 GeV/c. From examination of differential-cross-section data at low t values (see preceding paper), we find additional evidence for the existence of both the established Nγ(2210) and the predicted Nα(2220). The resonance parameters obtained for the Nα(2220) are mass 2245 MeV, width 330 MeV, elasticity 0.15.
