Abstract

We solve for the phase diagram (phase transition) of the nearest-neighbor-coupling SU(n) nonlinear scalar action. We do a one-loop calculation for the effective coupling constant, and find that the system undergoes a phase transition for dimension d>2. For d=2, the theory is asymptotically free.
