Particle production in the eikonal model

Abstract

We consider the production of particles on heavy nuclei and hadrons in the eikonal model, taking into account the Abramovskii-Kancheli-Gribov cutting rules and momentum conservation. It is shown that a sufficiently large gray disk fragments a projectile into its constituents. Corrections to this result for realistic nuclei are discussed. On the basis of the Regge eikonal model we predict a reduction of dσdx for pp→pX at x≲1 above CERN ISR energies.
