Nonet boson-mass formula in SU(4) and the width of the ηc(0−)

Abstract

It is argued that Schwinger's nonet mass formula is a more general mass relation than the ideal nonet mass formulas for any 16-plet bosons of the SU(4) group. The explicit limiting procedure by which the old SU(3) result is recovered from SU(4) is shown. The width of ηc(0−) could be large depending on the assignment of the ninth 0−+ meson.
