Abstract

The rate of the CP-nonconserving decay KL02π0 has been measured using a monoenergetic K beam and a nearly-4π-solid-angle detector system employing lead-plate spark chambers and shower counters. Final results based on a detailed analysis of the complete data set are given. The branching ratio of KL02π0 is determined relative to three different normalizations, KL03π0, KL0allchargeddecaymodes, and KL0KS0 using a beryllium regenerator. From the KL02π0 rate we find the CP-nonconserving parameter |η00|2=[14.1±1.9(stat)±1.5(syst)]×106.
