The authors present an exact solution of the neutron-3He scattering problem in the energy regime with open four-body breakup channels. With realistic nucleon-nucleon interactions, and including the Coulomb potential, the results for elastic, charge-exchange, transfer, and breakup reactions agree well with available data, and suggest that new polarization data might provide further tests for nuclear-force models.

The authors build a new relativistic energy density functional that reproduces nuclear properties over a wide range of densities, such as ground-state properties of finite nuclei, giant monopole energies, and the maximum neutron-star mass. The optimization procedure uses data from both nuclear experiments and astrophysical observations, and is supplemented by a covariance analysis that includes uncertainty estimates and correlation coefficients.
