This paper discusses the Hamiltonian theory of the fractional quantum Hall effect applied to the fractional Chern insulators. The authors work out the optimization of the gauge choice and propose that the gauge choice that maximizes the overlap with the fractional quantum Hall model state also minimizes the variational energies in the Hamiltonian theory.

Using momentum polarisation calculations to obtain the spin and central charge of the wave function, the authors are able to distinguish SU(2)2 2 Chern-Simons theories with and without coupling to fermions. The authors perform a very thorough and rigorous experimental study of the spin dynamics of the triplet states of the oxygen-vacancy complexes (SL1 centers) and their interaction with 31P donors in n-Si. A demonstration of true zero-field pulsed electrically detected magnetic resonance of the SL1 center, and the coherent manipulation of its spin, are among the several remarkable results of this outstanding work.

The hyperfine coupling of the electronic spins in quantum dots to nuclear spins in the semiconductor host material poses a major challenge, as it can lead to decoherence of the electron spins. In this work, the authors revert the typical approach in which the nuclear spins are considered as an environment for the electronic spin, but rather rather view the nuclear spins as the quantum system coupled to an electronic environment with an exceptional degree of tunability. They show that nuclear spin bath could be turned from the dominant source of decoherence into a useful resource for manipulating an electron spin qubit.

Films of copper doped topological insulator Bi2Se3 are investigated for signs of superconductivity. Interestingly, the authors demonstrate that these films do not exhibit superconducting transition in contrast with what found in the bulk crystals.

Dynamical polarization function, plasmons, and screening in silicene and other buckled honeycomb lattices

The authors study the dynamical polarizability and dielectric function in buckled honeycomb lattices taking into account the intrinsic spin-orbit interaction and sub-lattice onsite potential difference. By varying the relative strength of these parameters, they show that the imaginary part of the dynamical polarizability depicts signatures of topological insulator, valley-spin polarized metal and trivial band insulator phases.

The authors study the dynamical polarizability and dielectric function in buckled honeycomb lattices taking into account the intrinsic spin-orbit interaction and sub-lattice onsite potential difference. By varying the relative strength of these parameters, they show that the imaginary part of the dynamical polarizability depicts signatures of topological insulator, valley-spin polarized metal and trivial band insulator phases.
