Matt holds a B.A. from Drew University and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Brandeis University, and completed postdoctoral research at Iowa State University. In 1999 Matt joined the editorial team of Physical Review B, where he handled many topics in condensed matter physics, including superconductivity and magnetism in the Rapid Communications section. He joined Physical Review Applied in 2014 and became the Managing Editor in 2021.

Jelena Vučković is the Jensen Huang Professor in Global Leadership and a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics at Stanford, where she leads the Nanoscale and Quantum Photonics Lab. Upon receiving her Ph.D. degree from the California Institute of Technology in 2002, she joined the Stanford Electrical Engineering Faculty in 2003. At Stanford she has also served as the Fortinet Founders Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department, and was the inaugural director of QFARM, the Stanford-SLAC Quantum Initiative. Jelena joined the APS family as Lead Editor of Physical Review Applied in August of 2024.

Manolis Antonoyiannakis, Senior Associate Editor and Bibliostatistics AnalystAmerican Physical Society, USA Manolis received his Ph.D. from Imperial College London for work on electromagnetic forces in photonic crystals. He began his editorial career at Crete University Press before joining APS in 2003, working in Physical Review B, Physical Review Letters, and Physical Review X. He also spent an 18-month sabbatical as scientific advisor to the President of the European Research Council. Since 2026, he has split his time between Physical Review Applied and Physical Review B. Manolis also serves as the APS bibliostatistics analyst, with interests in research assessment, statistically principled indicators, and peer review dynamics. |

Jerry I. Dadap, Jr., Associate EditorUniversity of British Columbia, Canada Jerry received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Texas at Austin. Following his postdoctoral research at Columbia University and a brief period in the telecom industry, where he worked on optical switching via micro-electromechanical systems, he returned to Columbia as a research scientist. He later moved to the University of British Columbia, where he now serves as a senior research scientist. His research focuses on the electronic structure and optical properties of 2D materials, surfaces, and strongly correlated systems, as well as nonlinear optics, integrated photonics, and ultrafast phenomena. He served as an Associate Editor for Optics Express from 2011 to 2015 and is currently an Associate Editor for Physical Review B (since 2015), Physical Review Letters (since 2024) and Physical Review Applied (since 2026). |

Giovanni Finocchio, Associate EditorUniversity of Messina, Italy Giovanni Finocchio received his Ph.D. in advanced technologies in optoelectronic, photonic, and electromagnetic modeling from the University of Messina, Italy, in 2006 and is now an Associate Professor in its Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Physical Sciences and Earth Sciences. His research interests include spintronics, skyrmions, antiferromagnets, and computing. In the last 10 years, he served on many technical program committees of international conferences and organized more than 10 international conferences and workshops. He is currently the Director of the Petaspin Laboratory at the University of Messina and is the President of the Petaspin Association. Giovanni joined the Physical Review Applied team in 2022. |

Faezeh Kimiaee-Asadi, Associate EditorAmerican Physical Society, Canada Faezeh received her Ph.D. in theoretical quantum physics from the University of Calgary in 2020. She continued there as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Quantum Science and Technology. Her research interests include quantum optics and quantum computation, with a particular focus on designing quantum networks. Faezeh is also an Associate Editor for PRApplied and joined APS in 2024. |

Junqiu Liu, Associate EditorUniversity of Science and Technology of China, China Junqiu Liu is a principal scientist at Shenzhen International Quantum Academy and a tenure-track assistant professor at University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He received his Ph.D. from EPFL in 2020, M.Sc. (with highest distinction) from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in 2016, and B.Sc. from USTC in 2012. Junqiu’s research interest lies in the interdisciplinary domains of integrated photonics, nonlinear optics, quantum optics, MEMS, and microwave photonics. He has published more than 90 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has received numerous awards, including the 2025 European Physical Society Fresnel Prize and the 2021 EPFL Doctorate Award for his Ph.D. thesis. Junqiu joined the Physical Review Applied team in 2024. |

Qiao Qiao, Associate EditorAmerican Physical Society, USA Qiao Qiao received her B.Sc. in physics from Nanjing University and her Ph.D. in physics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research focused on the study of atomic and electronic structures of functional materials, using aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy combined with density functional theory calculations. She did her postdoctoral work at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and later became a research assistant professor at Temple University and a visiting scientist at Brookhaven National Laboratory. She joined the Physical Review Applied team in 2019. |

Igor Aharonovich, Quantum Emitters, Nanophotonics, Defects in Two-Dimensional MaterialsUniversity of Technology Sydney, Australia Igor Aharonovich is a Professor in the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at UTS and received his B.Sc. (2005) and M.Sc. (2007) in Materials Engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne (2010). Igor has received several international awards including the Pawsey Medal (2017), the IEEE Photonics Young Investigator Award (2016) and in 2020 he was the recipient of the Kavli Foundation Early Career Lectureship in Materials Science from Materials Research Society. In 2021, he became a Fellow of the Optical Society (OSA), and in 2024 elected as a fellow of SPIE. Igor investigates optically active defects in solids, with the aim of identifying a new generation of ultra-bright solid state quantum emitters. |

Alexandra Boltasseva, Metamaterials, Nanophotonics, Machine LearningPurdue University, USA Alexandra Boltasseva is a Ron and Dotty Garvin Tonjes Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University. She received her Ph.D. in electrical engineering at Technical University of Denmark, DTU in 2004. Boltasseva specializes in nanophotonics, quantum photonics, and optical materials. She is the 2023 recipient of the R.W. Wood Prize (Optica, formerly Optical Society of America), 2022 Guggenheim Fellow, 2018 Blavatnik National Award for Young Scientists Finalist and received the 2013 Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Photonics Society Young Investigator Award, 2013 Materials Research Society (MRS) Outstanding Young Investigator Award, the 2011 MIT Technology Review Top Young Innovator (TR35), the 2009 Young Researcher Award in Advanced Optical Technologies from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, and the Young Elite-Researcher Award from the Danish Council for Independent Research (2008). Andrew N. Cleland, Quantum Information Science, Superconducting Circuits, Acoustics and MechanicsUniversity of Chicago, USA Andrew N. Cleland holds the John A. MacLean Sr. Chair in the Pritzker School of Engineering at the University of Chicago, where he works on the experimental development of superconducting qubits and quantum acoustics. His group made the first demonstration of a mechanical system cooled to its quantum ground state; the acoustic Hong-Ou-Mandel effect; and a scalable superconducting qubit operating at the quantum error-correction threshold. He was awarded the 2025 Olli V. Lounasmaa Memorial Prize, a 2024 Vannevar Bush Faculty Fellow, and a 2022 Fulbright Distinguished Chair. Tie Jun Cui, Metamaterials and Computational ElectromagneticsSoutheast University, China Tie Jun Cui is the Chief Professor of Southeast University, Nanjing, China, and the Director of State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves. He received a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Xidian University, Xi’an, China, in 1993. His research is focused on metamaterials and computational electromagnetics. He proposed the concepts of digital coding and programmable metamaterials and established the new direction of information metamaterials, which bridge the physical world and digital world. He has published over 500 peer-reviewed journal papers with more than 62000 citations (H-factor 123), and received numerous awards, including the National Natural Science Awards of China in 2014 and 2018. His research lies at the intersection of bioelectronics, sensors, and wearable technologies.
