At the PRST-AB Editorial Board Meeting held during IPAC’15 in Richmond, the 2015 Robert H. Siemann Award for outstanding contributions to the PRST-AB journal was bestowed upon Vladimir Shiltsev, Director of Fermilab’s Accelerator Physics Center (FNAL).
Dr. Shiltsev was an outstanding member of the PRST-AB Editorial Board for six years, until December 2014. The award citation emphasizes Dr. Shiltsev’s numerous initiatives as an Editorial Board member to make PRST-AB optimally serve the accelerator community, to render it ever more attractive, and to increase its impact factor. He has tirelessly promoted PRST-AB among the worldwide accelerator specialists and highlighted its important role as a “Community Organizer.” Dr. Shiltsev also first proposed and then organized, for several years, a selection of outstanding PRST-AB papers—which, starting in 2013, was superseded by the PRST-AB Editors’ Suggestions—and he conceived and advertised the PRST-AB series of Robert W. Wilson Prize articles. Last but not least, Dr. Shiltsev has reliably provided his expert advice on submitted papers, both as a referee and as an Editorial Board member. In the latter role, he has helped resolve several difficult cases where authors appealed against the Editor’s decision not to publish their paper.
The award, named after PRST-AB founding editor, the late Robert H. Siemann, was established in 2012 by the editors of PRST-AB in order to recognize significant contributions to the journal. It consists of a PRST-AB pin and certificate citing the contributions made by the recipient. The award is conferred during the annual PRST-AB Editorial Board meeting.
The Robert H. Siemann Award is ordinarily given to one person, but may be shared when several recipients have contributed to the same accomplishment. Nomination proposals can be sent to the PRST-AB Editor and be made by any present or former PRST-AB Editorial Board member and by PRST-AB Editorial Staff.
