Doppler-broadened quantum electromagnetically-induced-transparency heat engines

Xiao-Jun Zhang, G. C. La Rocca, M. Artoni, Hai-Hua Wang, and Jin-Hui Wu

Phys. Rev. A 103, 062205 (2021) - Published 2 June, 2021

The authors study the effect of Doppler broadening on a quantum heat engine based on electromagnetically induced transparency which has recently been suggested and demonstrated with ultracold atoms. They show that “warm” atoms can still be used as a coherent quantum working medium, which suggests the possibility of a simpler and more convenient implementation than previous realizations with ultracold atoms.

Time-bin entanglement built in room-temperature quantum memory

Tian-Huai Yang, Chao-Ni Zhang, Jian-Peng Dou, Xiao-Ling Pang, Hang Li, Wen-Hao Zhou, Yi-Jun Chang, and Xian-Min Jin

Phys. Rev. A 103, 062403 (2021) - Published 1 June, 2021

The authors theoretically propose and experimentally demonstrate a scheme for generating time-bin entanglement with a quantum memory based on an ensemble of room-temperature atoms. The results are interesting for the manipulation of quantum information in quantum networks and may serve as an element in future quantum repeaters and quantum computers.

Entanglement of a bipartite channel

Gilad Gour and Carlo Maria Scandolo

Phys. Rev. A 103, 062422 (2021) - Published 28 June, 2021

The authors extend the scope of the resource theory of entanglement from bipartite states to bipartite channels, the most general quantum objects that can be shared between two distant parties. A family of measures of dynamical entanglement is defined and a dynamical resource theory of entangled channels is established.

W. Lee, V. G. Lucivero, M. V. Romalis, M. E. Limes, E. L. Foley, and T. W. Kornack

Phys. Rev. A 103, 063103 (2021) - Published 4 June, 2021

The authors present several methods for heading error suppression in all-optical alkali-vapor magnetometers in geomagnetic field ranges. These improvements could result in more precise measurements of Earth’s magnetic field and the development of compact and miniaturized sensors.

Optical trap for an atom around the midpoint between two coupled identical parallel optical nanofibers

Fam Le Kien, Síle Nic Chormaic, and Thomas Busch

Phys. Rev. A 103, 063106 (2021) - Published 11 June, 2021

The authors propose a new type of atomic trap in a small region around the midpoint between two coupled parallel optical nanofibers. They use the trapping of ground-state cesium atoms as an example and provide the dependencies of the trapping potential on the proposed experimental configurations.

Preparation of the 1/2 Laughlin state with atoms in a rotating trap

Bárbara Andrade, Valentin Kasper, Maciej Lewenstein, Christof Weitenberg, and Tobias Graß

Phys. Rev. A 103, 063325 (2021) - Published 30 June, 2021

The authors propose an adiabatic protocol to prepare the half-filling fractional quantum Hall ground state of bosonic atoms by rotating the confining trap. The improvement of the preparation time comes from adapted ramping speeds for rotation frequency and ellipticity, as well as large trap deformations.

Quantum entanglement in the triangle network

Tristan Kraft, Sébastien Designolle, Christina Ritz, Nicolas Brunner, Otfried Gühne, and Marcus Huber

Phys. Rev. A 103, L060401 (2021) - Published 21 June, 2021

The authors devise criteria to test for compatibility of a given quantum state within a simple triangle network, consisting of three nodes connected pairwise by three sources. The resulting constraints can help our understanding of quantum correlations in networks from the point of view of quantum states and their entanglement.

Phys.

The authors propose an adiabatic protocol to prepare the half-filling fractional quantum Hall ground state of bosonic atoms by rotating the confining trap. The improvement of the preparation time comes from adapted ramping speeds for rotation frequency and ellipticity, as well as large trap deformations.
