The Electron Optics of Mass Spectrographs and Velocity Focusing Devices

Abstract
The well-known results of the theory of mass spectrometers and velocity focusing devices are derived again by a different method which is simpler than the ones previously used and which brings out more clearly the electron optical nature of the deflecting and focusing properties of the fields employed in these types of instruments.
