Physical Review Accelerators and Beams

Physical Review Special Topics – Accelerators and Beams (PRST-AB) is offering a Special Edition for the 7th European Particle Accelerator Conference (EPAC 2000). It follows on the successful introduction of special editions at PAC99, and it offers the opportunity to expand upon and publish original research presented at EPAC 2000 in a peer reviewed journal.

PRST-AB is an all-electronic journal published by the American Physical Society. The all-electronic nature of the journal allows "special editions" while maintaining thorough peer review and timely publication. Articles based on EPAC 2000 papers submitted to PRST-AB will be reviewed through the normal refereeing procedure, and if accepted for publication they will be published as regular PRST-AB articles. Publication will be timely; articles will be published as soon as they are ready with no delay waiting for other papers presented at the conference. In addition, a special EPAC 2000 Table Of Contents will be created on the PRST-AB WWW site with links to the published papers,. It will be updated each time a paper related to EPAC 2000 is published.

In keeping with PRST-AB policy papers must contain important new results in science and/or technology. Confirmation of previously published results of unusual importance can be considered as new, as can significant null results. In general, authors should keep review material to a minimum. Even so, some review and reprise of past work is appropriate if the paper can be made more understandable and self-contained thereby. Papers cannot be duplicates of work submitted for publication either to another journal or to the EPAC 2000 proceedings. Material previously published, or submitted for publication, in a Letters journal or in conference proceedings can be the basis of an article in PRST-AB provided the submitted manuscript presents more information, enabling the reader to obtain an improved understanding of the subject. There are many important reasons why you should consider publishing in the EPAC 2000 Special Edition.

1. PRST-AB is a peer reviewed, American Physical Society journal. Peer reviewed articles benefit from careful reading and criticism of a knowledgeable colleague, and acceptance of an article for publication can be important to one's career.
2. PRST-AB is available to everyone without subscription or pay per view fees, and PRST-AB is an archival journal. The APS is committed to maintaining that availability even as computer technology and software change.
3. PRST-AB has no page limits, so this is the opportunity to expand upon your work presented at EPAC 2000 without that limitation.
4. Your article will be published in a timely manner and grouped together with other work presented at EPAC 2000.
