PRX Quantum has published a series of exciting, forward-looking articles in a special new category: Roadmaps. The papers focus on the outcomes of a meeting centered around the US National Quantum Initiative, and provide detail on a potential path to tackling the main challenges in the field. The researchers responsible for the collaboration and these resulting Roadmaps are seeking to accelerate the output of key innovations that are needed to build practical quantum technologies. Accompanying the Roadmap articles is a new Editorial from Lead Editor Stephen Bartlett and the PRX Quantum team, who detail how these initiatives came about.
The Roadmaps are now available online, and like all content in PRX Quantum they are open access under a CC-BY license. This set of articles covers three key subjects: Quantum Computation, Quantum Simulation, and Quantum Interconnects, each serving as a call for action to the quantum information science community. Through the details outlined in each Roadmap, researchers can more easily collaborate and build on previous work.
PRX Quantum is delighted to serve as the home for these Roadmaps and other content intended to communicate the most relevant information across the interdisciplinary research community focused on quantum information science and technology. The Editorial team invites you to take the next steps in developing the critical infrastructure detailed in these Roadmaps by submitting your latest and most impactful research to be considered for publication in PRX Quantum. APS will continue to pay article publication charges (APCs) for all work published in this fully open access journal until 2022.
