Abstract

The isoscalar magnetic moments and Gamow-Teller $β$ decay of the systems $A = 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, and 21$ are analyzed in an attempt to extract, in a largely model-independent way, the effective nuclear renormalization of the axial coupling constant: $g_{A} \to g_{Ae}$ . We find: $\frac{g_{Ae}}{g_{A}} = 0.920 \pm 0.047$ .
