Abstract

Energy levels in Cr49 have been studied using the Cr50(He3,α)Cr49 reaction. Angular distributions of α particles were measured and compared with distorted-wave Born-approximation calculations to determine l values. αγ angular correlations were also measured. The following spin-parity assignments are consistent with our results for the levels indicated: 0.27 MeV 72, 1.07 MeV (52,92), 1.57 MeV (52,72,112), 1.71 MeV (12,32), 1.74 MeV 32, 1.98 MeV 32, 2.43 MeV 52, 2.58 MeV 12+, 2.61 MeV 32, 3.24 MeV 52, 3.51 MeV (52,72), 3.93 MeV 12, 4.76 MeV 72, 5.57 MeV 32+, 6.43 MeV 12+, 6.47 MeV 12+, 6.76 MeV 12+. Branching ratios for the decays of these levels were measured. Multipole mixing ratios were extracted from the correlation data.
