Abstract
The angular distribution of the internal bremsstrahlung accompanying allowed electron-capture transitions is calculated using the theory of Glauber and Martin. It is shown that when Coulomb effects as well as relativistic and screening corrections are taken into account, the asymmetry coefficients associated with the radiative capture of - and -shell electrons acquire a dependence on photon energy which is quite pronounced at energies below about . This is quite contrary to the results of previous calculations, which have predicted these coefficients to be energy independent. The present results are found to give much better agreement with recent experimental observations than that obtained with the previous theory.
