Abstract
An accurate absolute measurement of the longitudinal polarization of conversion electrons is reported. The investigation was stimulated by a suggestion of Mendels and Wouthuysen on a possible electron polarization in electromagnetic processes. The measurements confirm the general belief that conversion electrons from unoriented sources are not polarized. We found for the - and -conversion lines of and more accurately: .
