Simple Model of the Li6 Nucleus and the Li6(n, t)He4 Reaction

Abstract

A model of the Li6 nucleus consisting of an alpha particle plus a deuteron is used to calculate angular dis-distributions of the Li6(n, t)He4 reaction for several neutron energies under the assumption that it is a pickup process. The shapes of the calculated angular distributions are similar to those of the experimental data; however, there is a lack of agreement between experiment and theory at large angles that is ascribed to compound nucleus formation.
