Abstract

The first three spark spectra of germanium have been extended by the discovery of many new terms and combinations as follows: Ge II $s 4 p^{2} {}^{2}S$ and $p^{3} {}^{2}P$ . Ge III $s 4 s {}^{1}S_{0} 5 s {}^{1}S_{0} 4 p {}^{1}P_{1} 5 s {}^{1}P_{1} s 4 d {}^{1}D_{2} s 4 f {}^{1}F_{3} p 4 p {}^{1}D_{2} p 4 d {}^{1}P_{1} {}^{1}F_{3} {}^{1}D_{2} d 4 d {}^{1}D_{2}$ and possibly $s 5 g {}^{3}G {}^{1}G$ . Ge IV $d^{10} 6 p {}^{2}P d^{10} 5 g {}^{2}G$ , $d^{9} s^{2} {}^{2}D$ .
