Abstract

The pressure dependence of the Knight shift K in V metal is measured. The explicit temperature dependence of K is derived from a previously obtained K(T) at constant pressure and the present pressure-dependence data. Several methods of estimating the volume dependence of the d-band susceptibility χd are discussed. Using the estimated value for dlnχddlnv, the volume dependence of the orbital Knight shift K0 was derived. It is concluded that the volume dependence of r3 plays an important role for the volume dependence of K0.
