Laser-Induced Instabilities in Raman-Active Media

Abstract
Laser-induced instabilities in Raman-active media are studied. The stimulated Raman scattering process is found to be important in benzene even for a Stokes conversion rate of a few percent. Growth rates are obtained by numerical analysis, using equations governing the motion of a saddle point.
