Abstract
Theoretical results for the dissociation of the hydrogen-molecule ion by high-energy electrons are considered with the intention of providing sufficient data for comparison with recent experimental studies of this system. The experimental results and this comparison are given in the preceding paper by Dunn and Van Zyl. The coefficients and for the cross-section formula , where is the relative collision velocity, are given for the discrete transitions and for each of the initial vibrational states in the potential curve. Similar data, obtained from a closure argument, are given; an estimate of the remaining contributions to the experimental cross section is then possible.
