Anharmonicity of Vibrations and the Inner Displacements in Crystals

Abstract
Expressions have been obtained for the inner displacements and the level shifts of the phonons in terms of the anharmonicity constants and the temperature of the crystal. It is shown that the inner displacement of any atom is proportional to the mean thermal energy of the lattice.
